What's free, and what won't be

The VIN check is free and stays free. Two paid products are planned, and neither is purchasable yet.

2 paid products defined, none currently purchasable.

Why the free report is a real report

Most “free VIN check” sites show you a result and then put the part you came for behind a payment form. VINLytix does not work that way. Everything we can produce from official public data — the decode, full specifications, safety recall campaigns, mileage analysis, red flags, the Deal Score, the Data Coverage percentage and the honest account of what was not checked — is free, permanently, with no account.

That is not generosity. Those sources are free to us: NHTSA publishes them. Charging for a public database lookup would be charging for something we did not pay for.

Why the other two cost money

Market valuation and title history come from licensed commercial providers who charge us per lookup. There is no free, official, licensed source for either — we checked, and the research is published in our data sources documentation.

So those are paid, one-time, per vehicle. No subscription and no account: a future purchase will unlock one report, not sign you up for anything.

Why there are no prices on this page

Because we have not set them, and we are not going to invent a number to fill the space. Pricing depends on what the providers charge us, which depends on volume we do not have yet. When there is a real price it will appear here.

You will not find an invented “original” price struck through here either, or a countdown timer, or quotes from customers who do not exist. A site whose entire argument is that it does not fabricate vehicle data cannot fabricate its own marketing.

Premium and History are separate

They answer different questions. Premium tells you what a car is worth and what to pay. Full Vehicle History tells you what has happened to it — titles, brands, salvage records, recorded odometer readings.

Buying one will not include the other, and we would rather say that plainly now than have someone discover it after paying. For most private purchases, the history report is the more important of the two.

What none of them are

No VINLytix product is a mechanical inspection, a guarantee of condition, or a substitute for verifying the title yourself. Pay an independent mechanic before you buy any used car. Read the full disclaimer, or see where our data comes from.
